Last week, my friend Nica and I went to visit our friends Hillary and Katy who live in Portland, Maine. I spent a short bit of time in Portland a few years ago on Labor Day weekend and I was eager to get back to do more exploring. Hillary lives in walking distance to the Old Port and downtown area. It's so beautiful, there are cobblestone sidewalks and all brick buildings. It definitely has a very New England feel. There are tons of shops and restaurants. I could probably spend hours just walking around and exploring all the streets.
We drove out to Portland Head Light which is a lighthouse with an amazing view of the ocean and some old artillery forts that you can go in and explore. It was so peaceful sitting on the rocks and watching the waves.
It was so fun to have a little reunion. These three girls and I have known each other since kindergarten and we all grew up in the same neighborhood! Now we're all making our homes in different places but it's so wonderful to stay connected to people you've known for a long time. Portland is an awesome city and I definitely hope to be returning sometime soon. One of my favorite places that we went was Tandem Coffee Roasters which is kind of on the outskirts of downtown. It's an old gas station/garage that is now a coffee shop with big beautiful windows and tons of outside seating. I went there twice in approximately 48 hours and if I lived in Portland, it's somewhere I would be going quite frequently I'm sure.
Alllll the heart eyes for that sticky bun!
