Over the long Memorial Day weekend I drove up to Boston to see some friends before I move off to NYC. The trip from Boston to NYC is almost five hours, but from my house in CT it's less than two so I figured might as well go while I was still close. I drove up Saturday morning and spent the day with my friend Jenny from college. We walked down Newbury, went to Blackbird Donuts, strolled around in Harvard Square, and hung out at her apartment in Somerville. Then, Saturday night and Sunday I hung out with my friend Val from high school. We walked all around Beacon Hill, the North End, the Boston Common, and the waterfront area.
Wow there is so much brick in those photos! Speaking of brick, one of the things I was looking forward to most in Cambridge was exploring Harvard. Cambridge was sooo crowded because it was Harvard alumni weekend as well as the Boston Calling music festival. Sadly, on Sunday Harvard Yard was closed for an alumni event so I didn't get to go in and take photos. I'm sure I'll be back one day soon and can do that but for now I'll just have to settle for these (they aren't all that bad, right?).
I'm really glad I got the chance to go to Boston before I head to NYC. One of the things that I had been struggling with was whether I wanted to move to there instead of NYC. I lived in Boston during my first three semesters of college and absolutely loved it. However, I really think this trip solidified for me that NYC is 100% the place I want to be. I love Boston but New York is just so big and so diverse. I spent a whole summer exploring there and didn't even come close to seeing everything. I can't wait to call New York City my home.
