If you have been following my blog or my Instagram you probably know that I am obsessed with matcha lattes. While I've been on Whole 30 I've been having them made with almond milk at my favorite places, Dom's in Avon, and Culteavo in Farmington. Going out for latte's often gets expensive. So I thought it would be a good idea to invest in my own matcha tea and make my own lattes at home. I went to David's Tea in the mall and got their Vanilla Matcha. Sometimes it's nice to have a little extra flavor (and the non-flavored matchas were rediculously expensive!) I am glad that I did this because now I can make the lattes without having to leave my house! Here's how I made my matcha latte step by step:
You'll need matcha tea, some kind of milk (regular or alternative), a milk frother if you like it frothed up like I do, a measuring spoon, and a whisk.
First, I measured 1/2 tablespoon of tea and put it in the cup.
When the water boils, fill up the cup about half way with hot water. Then take the whisk and mix the water and matcha powder (there are special matcha whisks, but they are a bit expensive so I just used a regular small whisk for this).
Next, froth up the milk. And then fill the rest of the cup with milk when it is done. Gently mix the milk and tea so that it combines.
And voila! You have a delicious matcha latte!
This is definitely something I will be having a lot. The cashew milk was the perfect flavor to compliment the matcha tea. I am excited to try it with other types of milk!
