A few years ago I made an adorable Christmas Terrarium in a mason jar. My sister was home for the Thanksgiving break so we thought it would be fun to make some more to add to the collection! It's super easy and quick and they make great decorations. I documented the process so I could share it with you! Here's what you'll need. A few mason jars, preferably bigger ones so that you can make a bigger scene! Make sure they're nice and clean so you can see through them. I bought all the rest of the supplies at Michael's, as usual! I got some bottle brush trees, some mini sleighs, tiny presents and a few other things. You'll also need some cotton balls for the snow!
First, I took my little sleigh and piled it high with presents!
We made little platforms out of styrofoam. This is a good idea because if the scene is directly on the jar cap it might be too low to see. Then we added some cotton balls on top of that for the snow.
I glued everything together on the little platform.
Then, I glued the platform to the inside of the lid and put the cap on. You have to be very careful while doing this or the trees might fall down!
Here are our three scenes! The left is the one I made a few years ago, middle is mine and the right is my sister's. So cute right?
And they make the perfect decoration for the mantle. Just put some twinkle lights around it and its the perfect Christmas scene!
