Wine Country

Good news! I survived my first week of classes. While I really enjoyed all of them and know I am going to learn a lot, I still have to get used to the idea of doing homework after two years of not having any. I'm currently having a last summer "hurrah" in Freeport, Maine for Labor Day weekend before I break into all of my reading. While we are having some down time I thought I would finish up my posts about San Francisco... After a few days in the city we thought it would be nice to take a trip to Napa Valley and do some wine tasting. I have a cousin who lives out there and she set up some wine tastings for us. I'm not the biggest fan of wine but I thought it would an educational experience. It was a lot of fun! The vineyards were really beautiful, we went to Starmont, Hyde de Villaine, and Stag's Leap for tastings. My cousin is dating someone whose family owns a vineyard so we got to walk around and taste grapes. We also got VIP treatment at all of the tasting rooms because of them!

Our drive back from Napa was one of my favorite parts of the trip. We drove through Sonoma and the mountains were so beautiful, unfortunately they were all brown because of the serious draught happening in California right now. I was extremely excited to cross the Golden Gate Bridge (we drove over the Bay Bridge on the way) and we stopped in Marin to take pictures of the bridge and the mountains.

Seeing the bridge so close was a really amazing experience after seeing it in pictures and movies for my whole life (not to mention I got to drive over it too). Angela and I were cheering the whole time! It was exciting to cross something off of my bucket list.
